About me
Hello! My name is Ryan Dondalski. I am a California-based landscape photographer who tries to capture some of the great scenes our world has to offer. I hope that my images captivate, instill wonder, and show how this world proclaims the glory of God.
I was born and raised here in Southern California, and although I didn’t spend much time hiking or travelling when I was young, I think my desire for adventure has always been there, showing itself in many daring jumps off playgrounds and imaginary interstellar battles. My journey in photography didn’t take shape until college, when, after some travelling and camping I decided that I should pick up a camera to better document my experiences. What I did not realize is that taking good photos requires a lot more than a good camera, and so as I began to learn, I began to fall in love with the process and have tried to hone my skill at the craft ever since.
I tend to gravitate towards mountains and beaches, and enjoy backpacking and getting out to the harder-to-reach places to capture the most beautiful scenes at the most beautiful times of the day and night. I endeavor to edit my photos according to a more “eye-witness tradition”, with the goal that my images reflect the reality of the scene as I experienced it. If an object is in the original exposure, it’s in my final edit.
Photos can reveal the beauty already present in our world. Landscape photos can help reveal the beauty with which the Creator has endowed the natural world. I hope that my work brings glory to God by through just that kind of revelation. I find that my images are not so much my art as they are representations of His art. I try my best to make those representations good, and I hope that you are edified by the images here on my website or the prints you may choose to put up in your home, place of work, or wherever you like. Either way, know that they are always shot with the Creator in mind.
